Blumarine's Cuban 60s Holiday

So on Friday I was lucky enough to be given a ticket from work to go and see the Blumarine SS12 show. Apart from the stressful taxi journey to Corso Venezia as everybody was stuck in a traffic jam and it was getting closer and closer to the shows start time of 4pm, I decided to do the best thing as a good intern.... leave the taxi and run!(Devil wears Prada moment)Finally arriving and barely breathing I managed to get in after battling people without a ticket (Felt a little smug not going to lie) I was placed on the fourth row at the beginning of the seating area. I was in such a great spot as I was right in front of the end of the catwalk. However little later before the show started we were told to move down rows so I actually ended up on the second so even closer! So what was the collection like? Bright, brash and sparkly. With a big 60s statement in the mini dresses, big flower accessories and shoes and also the bold prints. It was fun and a very young look it reminded me of a 60s resort holiday in Cuba with the samba music playing during the show. All in all the collection was great a few items really hard to wear as shown in the photos... If you do not have a model body then don't (sigh..) Enjoy the pictures!

So I'm Staying in Milan After All.....

I think this is my 100th apology in being such a bad blogger, I have been so busy! So lets recap in what has happened in this past month graduated from marangoni, working at the Tom Ford showroom and now starting my dream job as an assistant buyer for womenswear at thecorner.com! Things have come around so quickly and unexpectedly, I guess that I am going to be resident in Milan for a while longer.  Thecorner.com is the equivalent of net-a-porter in Italy a very hip and fashion forward website with many fashion movies making the website very creative using different multimedia and I cant wait to join the team! My bank cards are going to be smoking as my shopping addiction is definitely going to get worse as I will be surrounded by amazing designer clothes...(sigh) Now that the showroom is winding up I have more free time to update the blog so watch this space!

And remember...

That Time Of The Year To Stalk...

Ok no I am not literally going to stalk people but yes Mens Fashion Week is comming to Milan again, and to be honest me and my friends can't wait to find some talent... in the fashion front of course, *cough* My masters in Marangoni has now sadly finished but something new and exciting has come around for me. I am now going to work for the Tom Ford showroom for 2 months! It's gonna be hard work but hopefully I will do well, tomorrow all the merchandise is arriving so unpacking is on the cards! Anyway here is a small tribute to menswear fashion and Ford with an American Twist...

In A Day Dream

Right now I am really in to menswear. I recently had an interview at Ermenegildo Zegna (the best suit maker in the world for men) for a place as a showroom assistant, which has sparked my interest in mens fashion once again! Im keeping my fingers crossed and hope I will have good news at the end of the week... I found these images by Glass Magazine titled 'Hope is a waking dream' Featuring clothes from the likes of Gucci, Alexander McQueen, Louis Vuitton and Lanvin. Very plain and relaxed in it's styling and photography. The clothes are elegantly styled with a cool laid back feel. The melancholy looks of the models with their distant gazes and lack of colour the mood is very much a day dream. Lets hope I do not need to day dream also for much longer!

Man Day

One of many things that makes me happy in life is when a guy walks past looking really amazing in his clothes - This is a rarity. I can't understand why so many men do not bother in looking good and have this issue about being 'manly' honestly they need to get over it as women appreciate good clothes so I don't know why still today they haven't put two and two together! Anyway done with my ranting here are my tips for a summer outfit for men... The best pants in my opinion are chinos they look amazing on nearly everybody and can match many tops. I think blue and camel are an amazing combination of colours for this season. By adding espadrilles gives the look a summery edge. I found this amazing 'teeth' necklace that I had to add in it's really strange and awesome at the same time. Men of the world please make the effort you look so good when you do!

Trousers - Incotex    Shirt - Maison Martin Margiela
Necklace - Topman    Wallet - Lanvin    Bracelet - Topman
Espadrilles - Office Shoes

Home.

Finally term has ended and I can go home back to Cambridge after 4 months of not returning! I am extremely excited to see everyone again but I cant help but remember the English weather.... Milan is so bright and sunny with middle 20s temperature. I will be going back to clouds, rain and coldness... So the big wooly jumpers that have been shoved at the back of my wardrobe need to be found and packed. Sigh. I guess you can't have everything!

Via Tortona Milan

It has been a great week for the Salone del Mobile (furniture design) Obviously getting into the main event at Rho Fiera would be impossible, so me and a few friends decided to explore the outdoor events of Via Tortona! The street had the most amazing vibe with thousands of people and street bars open all night. Furniture show rooms were open and free to visit the new up and coming design talent. It was a really fun evening but you need to get there around 6pm, as the show rooms began to close around 8.30! Unfortunately i'm not going to be here at the weekend to catch the final celebrations, (as i am going back home to Cambridge for easter...yay!) but if you are in Milan this weekend make sure you visit Via Tortona!
